Two enormous Wemyss Ware® cats have been unveiled in Kirkcaldy, marking the start of an exciting new public art initiative that will see the town come alive with creativity in 2026. Painted by artists Griselda Hill and Elaine from Griselda Hill Pottery Ltd, the five-foot-tall sculptures are the first of at least twelve to be featured in the forthcoming Wemyss Ware® Cat Sculpture Trail. Griselda Hill Pottery Marks 40 Years with Kirkcaldy Galleries Partnership

2025 marked a milestone year for Griselda Hill Pottery, which celebrated its 40th anniversary with a series of events in collaboration with Kirkcaldy Galleries, themselves commemorating their centenary. The partnership produced a lively programme of exhibitions, competitions and special appearances that highlighted both organisations' shared heritage. In the spring, the Pottery crafted and donated 100 limited-edition "KG100" cat brooches to the Galleries. The brooches, which quickly became sought-after collectibles, were sold to raise funds for the Galleries. We didn’t know if it was a baby, or injured, so we phoned the SSPCA who were really helpful and told us to put it in a cardboard box with a lid and a little water until the officer came.
