Yellow Gallé Tiny Rabbit

Wemyss Ware® is Scotland's most famous pottery. Hand finished and hand painted in Ceres, Fife at the Griselda Hill Pottery since 1985. Fife is the birthplace of Wemyss® pottery in 1882.

The Gallé design is named after the French designer Emile Gallé, who made pottery cats in his ceramics factory in Nancy from the late 1870s. It is thought that Robert Heron, the owner of Wemyss Ware®, was very impressed with the bold yellow cat with hearts and roundels which he saw in one of the Paris Great Exhibitions at the end of the nineteenth century. He bought one and decided to have a similar cat made in the Wemyss® way - similar but subtly different. The Gallé cat is one of our most popular designs.

Wemyss Ware® rabbits were introduced later than cats and pigs, during the 1930s. We make two sizes of rabbit - a lifesize one and a tiny three inch one in two poses, often sold as a pair.

The Tiny Rabbit comes in two shapes, scratching it’s ear and washing it’s face, and looks great in pairs.
