Earlshall Esther Vase
Wemyss Ware® is Scotland's most famous pottery. Hand finished and hand painted in Ceres, Fife at the Griselda Hill Pottery since 1985. Fife is the birthplace of Wemyss® pottery in 1882.
The Earlshall design is named after Earlshall Castle in Fife, which had an avenue of elms with rooks' nests. A strong, stylised design, it sometimes incorporates quotes from popular poems. This pattern was brought out in the early twentieth century. This bold, single colour design is quite modern looking but was first produced around 1910.
This flower vase is named after Esther Weeks, the last surviving painter from Wemyss Ware®'s Devon years.
